What is the CFA Charter?
The CFA Charter is the professional designation awarded to individuals who complete the program of the CFA Institute (USA)—a global body that sets standards in investment management and financial analysis. When someone says they are a “CFA charterholder,” it means they have satisfied three demanding conditions: passed all three levels of the CFA exams, accumulated relevant work experience, and committed to the Institute’s ethical code.
How do you earn your CFA Charter?
To become a CFA Charterholder, a person must:
– Pass all three CFA exams (Level I, Level II, Level III).
– Gain 4,000 hours (about 3–4 years) of relevant work experience in investment or finance.
– Become a member of the CFA Institute and follow its ethics standards.

Can I do CFA after 12th?
The smartest students start preparing for CFA right after 12th while pursuing their graduation.

When can I give CFA exams?
CFA exams are conducted multiple times a year, depending on the level.
– CFA Level I: February, May, August, and November
– CFA Level II: May, August, and November
– CFA Level III: February and August
What are the CFA exam centres in India?
CFA exams in India are conducted through computer-based testing centres operated by Prometric across major cities. When you register for the exam, you can select your preferred city and available test centre, depending on seat availability for that exam window.
Can non-commerce students do CFA?
Yes, non-commerce students can absolutely pursue the CFA program. The CFA Institute does not require a specific academic background. Students from engineering, science, arts, or any other stream can enroll as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.
I am weak in Mathematics, can I still do CFA?
Some commerce and Arts students naturally feel a bit underconfident in Mathematics. This subject has an 8 – 12% weightage in the CFA Level I exam. However, the interesting part is that it has none of the difficult math topics like Integration, Limits, Matrices, Determinants, etc. It contains relatively simple and practical topics like Probability, Time Value of Money, Mean, Median, Mode, etc. Also, you are allowed to use a calculator in all CFA exams.
