The Teaching Assistant (TA) for Derivatives will support the delivery of coursework and assist students in understanding the concepts related to derivatives. This role involves providing academic support, managing course materials, and facilitating a productive learning environment in collaboration with the lead instructor or professor.
Academic Support:
• Assist in Teaching: Support the lead instructor in delivering lectures, discussions, and demonstrations related to derivatives.
• Demonstrate Techniques: Teach students how to use data analysis tools to model and evaluate derivative products.
• Office Hours: Hold regular office hours to provide individual or group assistance to students.
Research Assistance:
• Support Research: Assist in research related to derivatives, including data collection, analysis, and literature review, if applicable.
Course Content Review and Enhancement:
• Review and Update Content: Regularly review and suggest updates to course content to ensure it reflects current market practices and regulatory changes.
• Incorporate New Research: Integrate recent research findings or innovations in the field of derivatives into the course material.
Student Progress Monitoring:
• Track and Report Progress: Monitor and document student progress through regular assessments and report on individual and class performance.
• Identify and Support Struggling Students: Identify students who may be struggling and provide additional support or resources to help them improve.
Student Interaction:
• Answer Queries: Address student questions and concerns regarding course content, assignments, and exam preparation.
• Provide Feedback: Offer constructive feedback on student performance and areas for improvement.
Ethical and Regulatory Education:
• Teach Ethics: Incorporate lessons on ethical considerations and regulatory frameworks related to derivatives trading and financial markets.
• Update on Regulations: Ensure students are aware of and understand current
regulations and compliance requirements affecting derivatives.
Collaborative Research Projects
• Assist with Research: Aid students in collaborative research projects on derivatives, including literature reviews, data analysis, and report writing.
• Facilitate Research Groups: Organize and manage student research groups focusing on derivatives topics.
Must Have:
• Extensive hands-on experience in trading a broad spectrum of asset classes, including equities, options, and futures, with a rigorous focus on market analysis and risk management. Adept at utilizing advanced trading platforms and analytical tools to execute trades and optimize investment strategies. Demonstrated expertise in
constructing and refining derivative trading strategies, including options and futures,
with a proven ability to make real-time adjustments to maximize returns and manage risk in response to evolving market conditions and performance metrics.
Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced coursework or a Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Understanding of Derivatives: Strong knowledge of derivatives, including options, futures, swaps, and other financial instruments.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data and concepts.
• Teaching Skills: Experience or aptitude for teaching and explaining complex topics in an accessible manner.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with financial modelling software, spreadsheets, and statistical tools.
Experience:
• Teaching or Tutoring Experience: Previous experience as a teaching assistant, tutor, or in a similar role is advantageous.
• Industry Experience: Practical experience or internships in financial markets or with
derivatives is a plus.
